Simbiotek is a design studio based on design, research and fabrication which focuses on the relationship of biology and design at the juncture of science, materiality and form.
Simbiotek is a design studio based on design, research and fabrication which focuses on the relationship of biology and design at the juncture of science, materiality and form.
Each of our products are digitally designed and hand crafted after rapid prototyping fabrication with a laser cutting machine or three-dimensional printer. We hope to bring awareness to fragile symbiotic relationships in degrading ecosystems and human populations around the world.
Our designs are inspired by unique plant formations we see while traveling and often by architectural studies and analysis contracted while designing a building or public space. We also are interested in ancient culture and anthropology, reinterpreting traditional forms of human expression – like jewelry, carving, or textile patterns – into modern representations.
We focus on utilizing modern fabrication methods like rapid prototyping which allows for a high-quality output, improving the functionality of each product.
