PROCESS
A lot of people are curious about how we make our products and where the inspiration comes from. We take an integrated approach to design by studying concepts we are interested in and using this research to reinterpret their meaning as a means of artistic expression.
Since we are educated as architects, our most common form of inspiration comes from architecture and culture, like the design concepts of buildings or studying forms of human expression throughout time, known as material culture to anthropologists. We also have education in science and environmental design, which guides us in drawing inspiration from nature and biological structures.
1 Each of our products start with collaboration, sketching and research.
2 Next they are digitally modeled and then produced through methods of rapid prototyping using a laser cutting machine or three-dimensional printer.
3 This brings our designs to life using materials efficiently and accurately, creating less waste.
4 After fabrication, each item goes through a hand finishing process where we handmade the jewelry assemblies, sand the coasters and coat with a protective finish. Then the final touches are made and items are placed into recycled packaging.
In this approach, we hope to bring awareness to sustainable business and the fragile symbiotic relationships that humans effect in nature that are considered mutually dependent around the world.
